Pope: I pray for Ukraine that the power of faith heals wounds of the past
On Sunday, November 26, Pope Francis, greeting the pilgrims gathered at St. Peter's Square in the Vatican, appealed to the Ukrainian community representatives.
“I would like to welcome, in particular, the Ukrainian community, which marks the Holodomor tragedy - the death from starvation caused by the Stalinist regime, which took away millions of lives. I pray for Ukraine, so that the power of faith could heal the wounds of the past and spread the paths of peace today,” said the pontiff.
According to Vatican Radio, the UGCC in Italy, in cooperation with diplomatic missions of Ukraine and non-governmental organizations, conducts a number of spiritual and cultural events dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor. This year the main venue is the North Italian city of Milan, and in November 2018 – Naples in the south of Italy.
