Pope Leo XIV meets with the UN Secretary-General

On June 11, Pope Leo XIV received UN Secretary-General António Guterres at the Vatican.

The UN Secretary-General recently met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Secretary of State of the Holy See, and Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.

According to a statement from the Vatican Press Office, the Holy See expressed its support for the United Nations' global peacekeeping efforts.

During the meeting, the parties discussed ongoing processes and upcoming summits organized by the UN, as well as the challenges the Organization faces in addressing various global crises. They also reviewed specific situations involving conflict and instability.
