Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated the 69-year-old head of the Catholic Church on the start of his “special mission” and expressed gratitude to the pontiff for his attention to the Ukrainian people.
“We are thankful for the special words spoken during today’s solemn Mass regarding the need for a just peace and for the focus on Ukraine and our people. Every nation deserves to live in peace and security. May the prayers for a just peace and a decent life for all be answered,” Zelensky stated.
