His Holiness Pope Leo XIV accepted Patriarch Sviatoslav's invitation to meet with Ukrainian pilgrims at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican on June 28.
This was reported by the Secretariat of the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Rome.
On June 28–29, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church will hold a jubilee pilgrimage to the tomb of St. Peter the Apostle in Rome.
Pilgrims are asked to arrive at St. Peter's Basilica no later than 12:45 p.m. on June 28 to take their seats in time for the meeting with the Holy Father.
At 1:00 p.m., a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in the Ukrainian Byzantine Rite will begin, led by His Beatitude Sviatoslav, in concelebration with all the bishops of the UGCC from around the world.
For those unable to attend in person, Live Television will broadcast all the main events of the pilgrimage.
"I invite all our faithful who are able to join us on this pilgrimage. Please prepare yourselves spiritually by engaging in confession, prayer, and fasting. A special aspect of this pilgrimage will be the opportunity to pass through the open Holy Door at St. Peter's Basilica, where you can receive a plenary indulgence," said His Beatitude Sviatoslav. "Even in the Vatican, they must recognize that we are united and cannot be defeated. We are the largest Eastern Catholic Church, a global community that brings together millions of Ukrainians worldwide. I extend an invitation to all our faithful: come and see."
