Today, on Independence Day, President Petro Poroshenko with his wife Marina, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchynov, Parliament Chair Andriy Parubiy, Vice Prime Minister Hennadiy Zubko, Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klytschko, members of the World Council of Churches and religious organizations prayed for peace and prosperity in our country in St Sophia of Kyiv.

Today, on Independence Day, President Petro Poroshenko with his wife Marina, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchynov, Parliament Chair Andriy Parubiy, Vice Prime Minister Hennadiy Zubko, Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klytschko, members of the World Council of Churches and religious organizations prayed for peace and prosperity in our country in St Sophia of Kyiv.

The event began with the choir performance of "Our Father".

Prayers and speeches for Ukraine were proclaimed by the leaders of the Churches and leaders of religious organizations: the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Kyiv Patriarchate), Patriarch Filaret of Kyiv and All Rus-Ukraine, the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine; Supreme Archbishop of Kyiv-Halych of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Patriarch Sviatoslav; Primate of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church Metropolitan Macariy; Bishop Vitaliy Krivitsky, Ordinary Bishop of the Kyiv-Zhytomyr Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church; Chief Rabbi of Kyiv and Ukraine Association of Jewish Religious Organizations of Ukraine Yakov Dov Bleich; Chairman of All-Ukrainian Union of Evangelical Christian-Baptist Unions Valeriy Antonyuk.

In prayers there was a request for God's blessing for Ukraine, her unity, power, the welfare of Ukrainians, and peace for Ukraine.

The prayer was completed with “God, the One and Almighty, Keep Ukraine Safe for Us”.
