On March 9, 2010, at the National Opera of Ukraine, with the participation of the president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, festivities dedicated to the 196th anniversary of the Great Kobzar were held.
KYIV — On March 9, 2010, at the National Opera of Ukraine, with the participation of the president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, festivities dedicated to the 196th anniversary of the Great Kobzar were held, reports the web site of Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP).
At the blessing of Metropolitan Volodymyr, among those present were the teacher of the Kyiv Theological Seminary hegumen Aristarkh (Lebedev) and coworker of the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC hegumen Arkadii (Demchenko).
Attending the festive concert were famous poets, artists, and laureates of the Taras Shevchenko National Award.
At the end the president held a long discussion with the creative elite.
