Notably, the Brussels-Belgian diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church immediately reminded it was separated from the state.

“The situation is terrible, Archpriest Andrey Eliseev says.“The church and state are separatedunder the Constitution, but it turns out that any organization associated with Russia as a country can undergo such a prosecution. We have no relation to the Russian Federation: we do not get any subsidies or wagesfrom the state, and the Diocese and all parishes are registered under Belgian law and are Belgian in fact.’

As is known, on June 17, in connection with the lawsuit of Yukos, Belgium arrested property of Russian institutions except for diplomatic missions. It is possible that soon the assets of the Russian Federation will be seized in other EU countries and the USA.
