Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine Issues Address in Connection With Resignation of Pope

On February 12, the Conference of Bishops of the Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine published a letter in connection with the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI.

On February 23, the Conference of Bishops of the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) in Ukraine published a letter in connection with the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI signed by the head of the Conference of Bishops of the Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine, Archbishop Mieczyslaw Mokrzycki of Lviv.

The bishops called on the faithful to thank God for the time of the pontificate of Pope Benedict XVI.

On February 24, in each parish community of RCC in Ukraine, Masses will be served to thank for the gift of the service of Pope Benedict XVI. According to the address, Pope Benedict XVI will fulfill the pontifical service as the Bishop of Rome and the visible head of the Church till February 28 and, therefore, his name will be mentioned in the canon of the mass until that time.

The bishops called Roman Catholics to pray during the masses on March 3 to the Holy Spirit for the good selection of the pope and for all the members of the Conclave.
