Roman Catholics celebrate Palm Sunday in the main UGCC cathedral of Donbas

Roman Catholics of Donetsk celebrated Palm Sunday in the Cathedral of St. Mary of the UGCC on March 29, 2015 informspress service of the UGCC Donetsk Exarchate.

Since there is no Roman Catholic priests in Donetsk because of hostilities, Fr. Mykhailo Zaverchuk, rector of St. Nicholas Church of the UGCC in Donetsk celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral for the faithful of the Roman Catholic Church, administered the sacrament of Penance and blessed willow branches. According to Fr Mykhailo, the Mass was attended by more than fifty Roman Catholics.

 

“The faithful of the Roman Catholic Church happily entered the Holy Week in order to fully enjoy celebration of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ,” he added. According to the pastor, Roman Catholics of Donetsk will bless their Easter baskets in the Greek Catholic temple next Sunday as well.
