President Maia Sandu stated that Russia is preparing for unprecedented interference in Moldova's parliamentary elections to gain control.

This information was reported on the official website of the President of Moldova.

"The Russian Federation aims to exert control over the Republic of Moldova starting this fall and is preparing for unprecedented interference in the upcoming elections (scheduled for September 28 — ed.)," stated the president. "The risks to public order and national security are considerable, and all institutions, as well as society as a whole, must recognize this danger and take measures to protect themselves."

According to her, the Kremlin is behind various fake political movements, from “sovereignists” to Ilan Shor's group, and it utilizes cryptocurrency, social networks, the Church, and criminal schemes for its own interests. The tactics of destabilization include bribery, cyberattacks, manipulation, and pressure on the diaspora.
Maia Sandu's statement outlines ten primary methods of interference in Moldova's political and electoral processes. Among these is "the use of the Church for the interests of a foreign state and the instrumentalization of religion — to spread fear and radicalize different segments of the population."

As an example, she cites organized pilgrimages to Russia, where participants are instructed on how to conduct such events, media, and logistical support from groups associated with Russia, along with the involvement of the Eurasia Foundation, registered by Shor's team, which likely has indirect support from the FSB.

“I want to remind priests that betraying your neighbor and selling your country out is a grave sin,” emphasized the Moldovan president.
