SBU Head: at Mount Athos Yanukovych was Busy with State Affairs

The head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Valerii Horoshkovskyi said that staying at Mount Athos, Greece, in June, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych was busy with state affairs.

KYIV – The head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Valerii Horoshkovskyi said that staying at Mount Athos, Greece, in June, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych was busy with state affairs.

According to UNIAN, the head of the SBU said this in an interview to Ukrainian Truth.

“I was present at the meeting of the president of Ukraine with the president of Greece. After that we were at Mount Athos. And I want to assure that the president’s every action and meeting at Mount Athos were very useful to and necessary for Ukraine,” underlined the head of the SBU.

In answer to the question what state affairs the president was busy with on Athos, Khoroshkovskyi answered: “I hope you understand the level of the influence of the local spiritual elite, superiors of monasteries on the current political processes. I hope the degree of influence is understandable. And we discussed exclusively state problems; we discussed the questions of development of Orthodoxy.”
