According to the information department of the UGCC, on October 14, the Archbishop of Tripoli took part in the Hierarchical Liturgy which the Secretary of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC, Bishop Bohdan (Dzyurakh) served in the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine in Pyrohovo, on the occasion of the church dedication day and the 226th anniversary of completion of the church construction. According to the guest from Lebanon, he was deeply impressed by the piety of Ukrainians.
On October 15, after a prayer in the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, a working meeting was held between Bishop Bohdan and Archbishop Eduard Daher. The secretary of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC told the guest about the history of the UGCC and about the latest developments in the political, social and political life of Ukraine and the role of the churches therein. For his part, Bishop Edward emphasized the long and close ties that unite the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic and the Melkite Greek-Catholic sister Churches. Cooperation already began during the tenure of His Beatitude Liubomyr and Patriarch Emeritus Gregory III Lacham. Patriarch Gregory III visited Ukraine several times, including taking part in the enthronement of the newly elected UGCC Primate in 2011, as well as in the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC in 2015.
The interlocutors expressed their readiness to further deepen the brotherly ties between the two churches. Bishop Edward promised to come to Ukraine next time with a group of pilgrims from Lebanon, to pray in the holy places of Ukrainian land. Secretary of the Synod of Bishops, saying goodbye to the archbishop, assured him of his prayers for Christians in the Middle East and asked to pray for the cessation of military aggression and for peace and tranquility in Ukraine.
