Spiritual Board of Muslims of Crimea States That Rights of Muslims Are Violated
The Spiritual Board of Muslims of the Crimea (SBMC) published a statement about systematic violations of the rights of Muslim citizens of Ukraine. According to the document, it was triggered by the situation in the villages under the jurisdiction of the Dobre Village Council where confrontation between the local Muslims and the head of the Village Council, Ihor Budanov and local Cossacks is being provoked. The village council cancelled its own previous decision to allocate to the Muslim community a land plot for the construction of a mosque.
“As he refused to understand the needs of the Muslims of his village council to have their own religious building and distanced himself from their needs by empty promises and delays in settlement of the question, the mentioned head of the council made a lot of efforts during the last month to write libels, complaints to the police and supervisory bodies demanding to initiate proceedings against the Muslims of the Dobre valley,” stated a representative of the Muftiate.
According to the Crimean Muftiate, Budanov and the police and court of the Simferopol District decided to break the will of the Muslims by means of repressions and ignoring the Constitutional rights of the Muslims.
