On this Day of Remembrance of the Innocently Murdered, I want us all to remember the slogan of the global Ukrainian: “We remember, and the world recognizes.”

This was stated by His Beatitude Sviatoslav of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in his traditional video address, the Information Department of the UGCC reports.

Last week, on November 21, Ukraine celebrated the Day of Dignity and Freedom. We remembered the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, the Orange Revolution heroes, the students of the Revolution on Granite. And on November 23, we commemorated the Victims of the Holodomor-Genocide of 1932-1933.

“These two holidays,” said the head of the UGCC, “combined this week, tell us that when someone agrees to give up their dignity and freedom in exchange for a well-fed life, they end up as a victim of the Holodomor. By depriving Ukrainians of their freedom and secure statehood, the Stalinist regime killed millions of our brothers and sisters by starving them to death, taking away one of the best harvests on Ukrainian black soil.”

“We remember,” he continued, “so that the genocidal ideologies attacking us today will never spread again, and the world must recognize this tragedy to prevent it from happening again in other countries so that the murderous breath of red Moscow doesn't take any more lives. In the context of this week's dramatic events, we speak to the whole world: Ukraine stands, Ukraine fights, Ukraine prays!”.
