Apostolic Nuncio to Ukraine Visvaldas Kulbokas was given an unusual gift during his stay in Mukachevo.

This is reported by Pershy.com.ua.

On November 11, the nuncio celebrated Mass in the Mukachevo Cathedral of St. Martin.

The liturgy was co-served with him by ordinary bishop Antal Mainek, assistant bishop Nikolai Luchok, Bishop nil Lushchak of the Mukachevo Greek Catholic Diocese, as well as priests of the Mukachevo diocese and invited Greek Catholic guests.

Bishop Antal Mainek of Mukachevo thanked the diplomat for making one of his first trips to Ukraine in Transcarpathia.

And at the end of the Mass, the bishop gave the nuncio an original "spiritual" gift – a box with bottles of Hungarian Pálinka of three types:

"His Eminence once said in a private conversation that the shortest road between two people is a smile. Of course, let the Holy Spirit inspire you, and spiritus vini always causes a smile," the hierarch said.

It should be noted that during the Mass in Mukachevo, the Apostolic Nuncio to Ukraine surprised those present by delivering his sermon in Ukrainian.

Archbishop Visvaldas Kulbokas, in addition to his native Lithuanian, speaks English, Spanish, Italian, Russian and French.

The nuncio has been in Ukraine for just over a month. On October 1, he presented his credentials to President Volodymyr Zelensky.
