Synod of the UOC-KP establishes Russian Exarchate

Metropolitan Ioasaf (Shibaev) of Belgorod and Oboyan was appointed the ruling bishop of the Russian Exarchate, according to the official website of the UOC-KP.

The Holy Synod of the UOC-KP that convened on May 13, decided to set up in Russia (within its internationally recognized borders) the Russian Exarchate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This is reported in its Journal No.18.

 

In another clause, the Synod members decided to integrate into the newly established Exarchate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Kyiv Patriarchate the Diocese of Belgorod and Bogorodsk of the UOC-KP in Russia.
