The head of the OCU meets the WWC delegation

On May 11, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine met with the General Secretary of the World Council of Churches, Dr. Jerry Pillay, who was accompanied by the moderator of the Central Committee of the WCC, Bishop Heinrich Bedford-Strohm, the vice-moderator of the Central Committee of the WCC, Archbishop Vicken Aykazian, the director of the WCC's Commission on International Affairs, Peter Prove, and the responsible for the program of ecumenical relations, Dr. Vasile Octavian Mihoc, at his residence.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Head of the Department of External Church Relations, Metropolitan Yevstratiy of Bila Tserkva, and the Secretary of the Synodal Commission for Inter-Christian Relations of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Father Rostyslav Vorobyi.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the religious situation in Ukraine, as well as the challenges associated with the full-scale Russian aggression. In addition, they discussed the ongoing process of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine's membership in the World Council of Churches. The parties also discussed a number of other current issues. In the end, it was decided to continue the dialogue and consultations for the development of friendly relations.

"We are open to dialogue and thank everyone who fully supports Ukraine during this difficult time of war. I am convinced that with God's help, we will certainly succeed, but for this, we must unite and combine our joint efforts," said the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
