In a military address to Ukrainians on October 2, Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about important events that took place in Turkey – during the visit of the First Lady of Ukraine and the head of the Presidential Office. He also mentioned the meeting of the First Lady with Patriarch Bartholomew.

"The First Lady of Ukraine and our delegation met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. Patriarch Bartholomew's view on the war unleashed by Russia and his position on supporting our state are well known. And today, they sounded very powerful. I thank you for this, thank you for understanding the needs of our people," Volodymyr Zelensky stressed.

As RISU has reported, the First Lady of Ukraine met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on October 2.

"His Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew calls the war against Ukraine nothing less than diabolical. And he adopted this stance immediately at the very beginning. Back in March, the Ecumenical Patriarchate sent first aid to Ukraine and continues to do so. And its head further testifies to the anti-human nature of the Russian war. His Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew constantly conducts prayers for peace in Ukraine and takes care of our IDPs worldwide," Olena Zelenska said after the meeting.

The First Lady of Ukraine thanked the Ecumenical Patriarch for his support and assistance.

In Istanbul, with the participation of First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska and the Commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Oleksiy Neizhpapa, a solemn ceremony of launching an ADA-type Corvette built in Turkey for the AFU Navy and named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa was held.
