Theologians to discuss peacekeeping role of churches in Lviv

On March 4, a one-day international conference "Peacekeeping role of churches, ecumenical cooperation for social harmony and reconciliation" will be hold in Lviv.

On March 4, a one-day international conference "Peacekeeping role of churches, ecumenical cooperation for social harmony and reconciliation" will be hold in Lviv.

The conference participants will discuss issues of war and peace, will consider the prospects for peace-building and reconciliation, share views on the role of religion in war and conflict, particularly as to how Christian churches can promote a culture of peace and ecumenism.

 

The main speakers of the conference are Rev. Dr. Ivan Datsko, president of the Institute of Ecumenical Studies of UCU; Rev.Dr. Oleg Kindiy, dean of the International Relations Faculty of Philosophy and Theology of UCU; Rev. Dr. Nikolai Denisenko, director of the Ecumenical Institute of Huffington University, Loyola Marymount University; Dr. Edmund Arens, professor of fundamental theology, theological faculty of the University of  Lucerne; Dr. Hans-Ferdinand Angel, Graz University; Rev. Dr. Cyril Hovorun, Stockholm School of Theology; Dr. Taras Dzyubanskyy, director of interfaith and inter-religious dialogue “Libertas”; Dr. Carmen Marquez, Professor of Theology, Pontifical University Komillas and others.

 

Venue: National University “Lviv Polytechnic,” assembly hall, Stepan Bandera street, 12. Time: 9.00 - 16.00.
