UGCC head invites pope to visit Ukraine

The head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Sviatoslav (Shevchuk), has invited Pope Benedict XVI to visit Ukraine. The patriarch announced this during the celebrations in Lviv for the 10th anniversary of Pope John Paul II’s visit to Ukraine, Ukrainian News reports.

Patriarch Sviatoslav expressed hope that the pope will accept his invitation and come to Ukraine.

Earlier the UGCC head declared his readiness to assist in organizing a meeting between Pope Benedict XVI and Patriarch Krill of Moscow.
