UGCC Head participates in the meeting of the presidents of the Catholic bishops' conferences of Europe

This year, Ukraine is represented at the meeting byUGCC Head, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Archbishop Petro Malchuk O.F.M., Bishop of Kyiv-Zhytomyr and Bishop Milan Šašik, Eparch of Mukachevo. It has been reported by the UGCC Information Department.

Addressing the audience, His Beatitude Sviatoslav told to heads of the local Catholic Churches about thepastoral situationof the Church ministryin Ukraine, calling it“the greatest humanitarian disaster in Europe since the Second World War.”

The UGCC patriarch thanked the brothers in the episcopal ministry for prayer and support for the Ukrainian people, in particular for the cooperation with the European agencies of Caritas, which made it possible to provide emergency assistance to thousands of victims of war.

Thereafter, the UGCC Primate called for further solidarity with Ukraine. “Although Western media do not cover any more the war against Ukrainian people, the aggression continues, and, according to Pope Francis, we must overcome indifference to build peace,” said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

It should be noted that the episcopal assembly will pray at the holy sites, such as Capernaum, Nazareth, Bethlehem and Jerusalem for peace in Ukraine and the Ukrainian army and for all victims.
