Patriarch Sviatoslav of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church met with the US Ambassador to Ukraine, Bridget Brink, on July 19. The meeting was held at the Ambassador's request.

In the conversation, the Ambassador was inquiring about the life of the UGCC. She noted that the UGCC is very active in supporting people affected by the war, particularly in war conditions. Bridget Brink also noted that the UGCC is present in the United States, which means that it is a global church that unites the Ukrainian diaspora from all over the world. In her opinion, that is why today, the role of Greek Catholics is very special compared to other churches and religious organizations.
In turn, the head of the UGCC thanked the US ambassador for the visit.
"Welcome to Kyiv! Thank you for bringing the US embassy and employees back to work in Kyiv. This is a very important sign of support for us," His Beatitude Sviatoslav emphasized.
He also thanked the United States for supporting Ukraine, the people of Ukraine in a difficult moment and doing everything possible to ensure that Ukrainians can really survive a difficult stage of their history in a decent way.
Therefore, the parties talked about the history of the Church and the ecumenical situation in Ukraine. Bridget Brink was interested in relations and ways of cooperation in the context of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations.
Finally, the head of the UGCC stressed that Ukraine, particularly the Catholics of Ukraine, are waiting for the arrival of the Pope and hope that this visit will take place as soon as possible.
