UGCC priest launched a sports flash mob to promote healthy lifestyles

Fr Ivan Danchevskyy, a priest of the UGCC, initiated a sport flash mob on Facebook. He stated in his network a video workout in the gym and urged other priests and faithful to engage in sports and promote healthy lifestyles.

“The spring came, many young people not only go for picnics but practice sports as well. I would like to encourage all of us to care for the physical health, so we offer flash mob where fathers show by their example how they are involved in sports,” Ivan Danchevskyy on his page on Facebook.

He called the two priests and one faithful to continue his flashmob and also post videos or photos from their sports activities on Facebook.

According to Zahid.net, director of the Department for Pastoral Care of the UGCC, Father Oleg Kobel responded to the call and posted a video of their sport practice. The priest wrote: “I was handed the baton by Fr. Ivan Danchevskyy. I handed the baton to two priests and one layman. The purpose of the flash mob is to popularize sports. Those who received the call, shall make their video and pass the baton to two priests and a layman, or vice versa.”

Ivan Danchevskyy is a graduate of the Lviv Theological Seminary of the UGCC and the Ukrainian Catholic University. He studied at the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical Institute of Spirituality “Theresianum” in Rome.

He was the prefect of the Kyiv Three Saint Theological Seminary and now is pastor of the Diocese of Vladimir the Great in France for Greek Catholics of Benelux, Switzerland and France.
