Ukraine introduces new visa requirements for Israeli citizens

Israelis, including pilgrims, must now receive prior approval to enter Ukraine. This step is a response to the change in Israel's visa policy towards Ukrainian citizens.

Ukraine is introducing new visa requirements for Israeli citizens in response to recent changes in Israel's entry visa policy for Ukrainians. According to the information provided by the Embassy of Ukraine in Israel on its Facebook page, starting from July 1, Ukrainian citizens will have to apply for an ETA-IL permit to stay in Israel for up to 90 days.

These changes effectively end the visa-free regime that has existed between the two countries since 2010. Israel's decision to restrict entry for Ukrainians, including refugees, prompted Ukraine to take similar measures. From now on, Israelis, including pilgrims, will also be required to obtain prior approval to visit Ukraine.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Israel Yevhen Korniychuk said: "Israel's recent actions, such as restrictions on entry for Ukrainian refugees and denial of entry to many Ukrainians, have strained our relations. In response, Ukraine will introduce similar pre-approval requirements for Israeli citizens, including pilgrims."

These innovations will affect the thousands of religious pilgrims who visit Ukraine annually, particularly during religious holidays such as Rosh Hashanah in Uman. Ukraine, however, remains open to dialogue with Israel to discuss and revise the travel policy for the mutual benefit of both countries.

The Embassy of Ukraine expressed hope for further dialogue that can help reduce tensions and preserve the close ties that have existed between the countries for many years.

These measures could significantly impact tourism and religious exchange between the countries. Both sides recognized the importance of finding a common solution to avoid negative consequences for the citizens of both countries.
