Ukraine's President expands the powers of the Ukrainian Ambassador to the Vatican

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Vatican, Andriy Yurash, to the office of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Sovereign Military Order of Hospitallers of St. John of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta concurrently.

This is stated in Decree No. 671/2022.

The embassy of Ukraine to the Sovereign Military Order of Hospitallers of St. John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and Malta is located in Rome.

Cooperation between Ukraine and the Sovereign Order of Malta is evolving in the humanitarian sector.

The order's cells have been operating in Ukraine since the early 1990s. The vast majority of the order's projects are implemented in the healthcare and social spheres, and assistance is provided to IDPs and participants of the JFO, as well as orphans and disabled children.

Projects are being implemented to provide psychosocial support to local communities affected by Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine.
