The town authorities of Uman of Cherkasy Oblast do not support the idea of representatives of the opposition transporting the grave of Tzaddik Nakhman, visited by tens of thousands of Hasidim annually, to another place or country.

The town authorities of Uman of Cherkasy Oblast do not support the idea of representatives of the opposition transporting the grave of Tzaddik Nakhman, visited by tens of thousands of Hasidim annually, to another place or country, deputy mayor of Uman, Petro Paievskyi, said this on air on Channel 5, reported religions.unian.net.

According to Paievskyi, Nakhman himself in his testament expressed a wish to be buried in Uman. In addition, according to the official, the pilgrims help to develop the historically conditioned tourist potential of the town.

Therefore, according to the official, the regional and central authorities should ensure as comfortable stay for the tourists, especially religious ones, as possible.

According to him, the authorities should build hotels, cafeterias, provide rendering of other services, to make sure that the visitors should feel comfortable and the local residents should get jobs, salaries and also feel comfortable.
