Unification Council’s convocation date depends on the Ecumenical Patriarch

“The convocation of the Council depends on the Ecumenical Patriarch, so we hope that in the near future this council will be convened, but we cannot tell the date,” Patriarch Filaret said on October 26 at a press conference named Ukrainian Church on the Way to Establishing Autocephaly.

As RISU has reported, the Primate of the UOC-Kyiv Patriarchate also noted that more than 60 bishops of the three Churches would be delegated to the Unification Council.

“The next step towards autocephaly is the convening of the Council of Bishops which will bring together the three Churches: more than 40 hierarchs of the Kyivan Patriarchate, 12 hierarchs of the Autocephalous Church and minimum 10 hierarchs of the Moscow Patriarchate are expected to attend. That is, the Council will be attended by these bishops, and the unification of all three churches into one Ukrainian Orthodox Church will take place at this Council,” Patriarch Filaret reiterated.
