The Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate addressed President Viktor Yanukovych in a letter expressing concern over the status of observance of the Law of Ukraine “On Protection of Personal Information.”

In particular, the ministers are concerned about a prescription stipulating the responsibility of religious organizations to process personal information of persons maintaining regular contact with the church due to the character of their activity.

The clergymen of UOC-MP said that the law “violates constitutional rights and freedoms” and reminded the leadership of the state that the mission of the church is to profess and spread the faith, the website of the UOC-MP reported.
