The head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, will not reconcile with the non-canonical Kyivan Patriarchate, said a representative of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate.

The head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, will not reconcile with the non-canonical Kyivan Patriarchate, said a representative of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP), Hegumen Longin, in an article for the Dielo newspaper, reports the UOC-MP website.

"As for the issue of reconciliation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate with the Kyivan Patriarchate, the word ‘reconciliation’ is not quite fitting here. To reconcile whom with whom? There are 15 local Orthodox churches, none of which recognized the schismatic church of Mister Mykhailo Denysenko.   The moment of reconciliation is possible only when that person turns to the bosom of the Mother Church with realization of his mistakes and publicly repent," noted the hegumen.

"What happened last year when Mister former president was eager to establish his local church by unifying different churches and was delirious about that idea could not result in anything good. He saw himself as a messiah and wanted to do by force what one must not do by any means. One must not violate the will of people. If they wish to remain in the Kyivan Patriarchate, one must not force them to turn to any other patriarchate. In this case what God has established is violated. A person made their choice and it is there right. Even if the choice is erroneous," summed up the hegumen.
