During the theological symposium titled "Creation, Nature, Environment, for a World of Peace," which took place at Villa Pius IV in the Vatican, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican Secretary of State, addressed journalists' questions regarding the situation in the Middle East and the recent incidents involving drones that violated Polish airspace.
This was reported by Vatican News.
The cardinal highlighted the bravery of Christians who chose to stay in Gaza to support those with limited mobility. He expressed his full backing for all humanitarian efforts aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Gaza Strip's inhabitants.
He also addressed comments made by Italian President Mattarella, who, in relation to the drones that struck Polish territory, likened the current international climate to the period preceding World War I.
The Vatican's Secretary of State agreed with the Italian president's assessment, stating, "If there really isn't a moment of reconsideration regarding the path being taken, there is a risk of an endless escalation and thus also of the outbreak of a wider war."
According to the Vatican Secretary of State, the world is facing significant danger.
"We are doing everything possible," Cardinal Parolin said. "Our diplomacy is trying to make contact with all the involved parties; we talk, we insist — these are the tools we have to try to stop this escalation," he remarked.
