While Praying in Kyiv Priest Hit by Stun Grenade

A priest from the Chernivtsi region was hit in the eye by a stun grenade during the clashes on Hrushevskoho Street in Kyiv.

A priest from the Chernivtsi region was hit in the eye by a stun grenade during the clashes on Hrushevskoho Street in Kyiv. This happened on January 22 during a morning prayer for Ukraine, Religion in Ukraine reports.

On January 22 Patriarch Filaret of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate turned 85. A delegation of priests from Bukovyna headed by Metropolitan Danyil went to Kyiv. The patriarch canceled all celebrations, and the priests went to pray on Hrushevskoho Street where there is confrontation between the protesters and the Berkut special forces.

One of the stun grenades exploded near the priest and hit his eye.

Earlier, demonstrators told Kommersant that police used tape to attach iron balls and metallic bolts to the stun grenades.
