125 "religious" cases were initiated in Crimea over the years of occupation
This is reported by the Crimean human rights group, according to Ukrinform.
"In total, at the end of June, the Crimean human rights group recorded 125 administrative proceedings under Article 5.26 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation for allegedly illegal missionary activities with a total amount of fines of 1,613,500 rubles (602.3 thousand UAH - ed.)," the report says.
In particular, on June 1, "Justice of Peace" Ullubiy Isayev fined 30 thousand rubles (UAH 11,200) to the Church of Christians of the evangelical faith "Light of Peace" - allegedly for illegal missionary activities.
On June 8," Justice of Peace" Svitlana Vlasova fined the imam of a Muslim religious community from Alushta, Yusuf Ashirov, 5 thousand rubles (UAH 1,870) for conducting prayer without the permission of the"spiritual administration of Muslims of Crimea".
As noted, in May 2021, this "judge" fined the same community 30 thousand rubles for storing religious literature in a mosque.
The Crimean human rights group recalls that such actions of the occupation authorities are a violation of both the IV Geneva Convention and the European Convention on Human Rights, namely Article 9, which concerns freedom of thought, conscience and religion.
