A collection of Easter egg coins minted by the Royal Canadian Mint assembled in the Rivne region
This was reported in Telegram by the head of the Rivne Regional Council, Andrii Karaush, according to Ukrinform.
“Our State Historical and Cultural Reserve of Ostroh now has the $20 coins in the shape of an egg. A true beauty of an item, and thanks to the efforts of old good friends, the museum fund continues to grow,” the message reads.
As noted, a collection of unique Easter egg coins has been assembled. These coins have been minted by the Royal Canadian Mint since 2016. The series currently consists of 9 silver coins, each created with exceptional attention to detail.
According to the head of the regional council, the coins perpetuate sacred symbols that have been preserved and passed down in Ukrainian culture for generations. The dominant symbols are those traditionally found on Ukrainian Easter eggs and represent life, fertility, nature, rebirth and protection.
Karaush emphasized that the Ostroh Reserve is one of the few cultural institutions in Ukraine that has a complete collection of Easter egg coins in its fund. They will soon be shown as part of the updated numismatic exhibition “Minted History of Ukraine” in Ostroh Castle. The chairman of the regional council reminded that this project is being implemented by the Fraternity of the Princes of Ostroh in partnership with the reserve and with the assistance of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.
