A great loss: The President of Ukraine expresses his condolences on the death of Patriarch Filaret

The President of Ukraine wrote about this on Facebook.

"This is a great loss for Ukrainians. He was a strong figure and one of the most steadfast defenders of the Ukrainian Church and of our independence and statehood. The Ukrainian people will always honor his contributions to the development of the Local Church. Without Patriarch Filaret’s energy, character, and courage, many of Ukraine’s achievements would not have been possible. We also remember how he taught us to unite around the idea of a strong, independent Ukraine. May he rest in peace," Zelensky stated.
