The project of the Greek Catholic сhurch of Saints Volodymyr and Olha in Khodoriv, Lviv Region, won the European Construction Award.

The website of Khodoriv local authority reports that the project of the Greek Catholic Church of Saints Volodymyr and Olha in Khodoriv, Lviv Region, won the European Construction Award.

The victors were awarded on September 5 at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. The deputy Mayor of Khodoriv Jaroslav Kostur and the rector of the temple of Volodymyr and Olha, father Taras Hrytsiv received a golden statuette from Roman Pikuli, the head of the competition, the president of the Society for the Protection of the National Material Heritage of Poland.

“There were 16 nominations. We participated in the ‘New Construction’ category along with ten more Polish projects - schools, administrative and residential buildings,” Jaroslaw Kostur told the Galnet newspaper, according to Tvoemisto.

Taras Hrytsiv says that the church construction began in 1998 and took 20 years. It was designed by architect Oleksandr Matviyev. It took about 120 tons of reinforced concrete.

In total, Ukraine submitted 70 competition entries.

Reference. The European Award is an international construction competition and one of the largest events in Europe. It has been held for 23 years. The main idea of the competition is to promote best construction practices and infrastructure modernization, public, commercial and residential buildings, as well as cultural and historical monuments on the European market.
