Action “An Icon in Every Home” Held at Kyiv Monastery of Tithes
KYIV — On February 6, 2010, the commemoration of the Venerable Xenia the Roman and the Blessed Xenia of St. Petersburg, at the blessing of the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Volodymyr, the action "An Icon in Every Home" was conducted at the Kyiv (Men's) Monastery of Tithes, as reports the web site of the UOC-MP.
After the Divine Liturgy the prayer service was performed at the honorable relics of St. Xenia of Milas, following which all those attending venerated the shrine and received the icons of St. Xenia of St. Petersburg as a blessing.
Alongside with the prayer service at the Monastery of Tithes, services at other churches were also performed. Taking part in the action were the Dioceses of Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Crimea, and Kharkiv, of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church, and the Orthodox Church of Moldova. In addition, the commemoration was supported by the churches of the Orthodox Church in America, the Russian Church Abroad, and the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
By approximate calculations a total number of 300,000 icons of the God-pleaser were distributed.
