Adventists initiated charity project ‘The Angel of East’ for the victims of ATO zone
‘Nadiya’ Channel and the Seventh Day Adventist Church initiated a charity project ‘The Angel of East’. Its main goal is to support the victims of hostilities in the antiterrorist operation zone in Donbas, informs the correspondent of Religion in Ukraine web-site.
"You may be lucky that the events in Donbas did not affect you and your family. You have a quiet, calm and warm place to sleep. You’ve got some money and may buy at least simplest food somewhere. You’ve got last year clothing and shoes for fall. Your children went to kindergarten or school. Pastime you can watch TV, surf the Internet or just quietly walk with family or friends. Yet it's a luxury for the residents of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. Leaving their own houses, they go to seek refuge in other areas or stay under threat of life at home - in the arena of hostilities, having no money, no food, but with broken windows and damaged roofs”, the organizers said in their appeal.
‘The Angel of East’ was created to unite the efforts of people and coordinate opportunities and resources to bring a bit of happiness to the victims in the east.
Alongside with Nadiya TV-Channel and the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the initiators of ‘The Angel of East’, a project supported by the youth movement ‘Strong generation’ of the All-Ukrainian Charitable Foundation ‘Better Life’, the Adventist Relief and Development Agency of Ukraine (ADRA), ‘Nadiya’ contact center.
“The task set before us is to raise funds to purchase food, clothing, first aid and hygiene products”, says coordinator of ‘The Angel of East’ Volodymyr Velechuk. But the priority of the program is to restore the buildings. It is autumn. Cold season is coming. Many windowpanes are broken, the roofs are destroyed. Therefore, the project involves formation of building teams.”
A team is composed of ten people. Three of them are masters of their craft, others are assistants. 30 thousand UAH are allocated for one such team. Part of the money is spent on the road. If a team comes from western Ukraine, about 4 thousand UAH is spent for travel. Some 6000 is spent for food. 20 thousand UAH are spent on the purchase of building materials for reconstruction.
The first such team composed of men from western Ukraine has fulfilled its obligations. They have built seven residential buildings, as well as kitchen and medical room in kindergarten. The second team has been almost formed.
Anyone who wishes to volunteer as part of the construction team is invited to a special project website angel.hope.ua.
