A military court in Moscow found Yevgeny Serebryakov, a 30-year-old altar server at a Greek Catholic parish in the city and a former database analyst at TBC Uzbekistan Bank, guilty of planning and carrying out a terrorist act. He was also found guilty of illegal trafficking in explosives and the illegal manufacture of explosive devices.

Serebryakov was sentenced to 25 years in prison, according to Christians Against War.

According to the investigation, in July 2024, Serebryakov detonated a bomb that blew up the car of a GRU officer from the Russian Ministry of Defense, resulting in the officer losing his feet and injuring his wife. Additionally, Serebryakov provided the Ukrainian side with information about dozens of military personnel involved in planning missile strikes against targets in Ukraine.

The convicted individual stated that his intention was to help stop the war. He is also recognized as a supporter of Alexei Navalny, who identified as Ukrainian and opposed the annexation of Crimea.

Following the explosion, Serebryakov left Russia, was arrested in Bodrum, Turkey, and later deported back to Russia.
