On December 19, The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine met with Archbishop Thabo Mcgoba of Cape Town and the Metropolitan of the Anglican Church of South Africa at his residence – the Metropolitan House.

This is reported by the press service of the Kyiv Metropolia of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (OCU).

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Head of the Department for External Church Relations, Archbishop Yevstratiy of Chernihiv and Nizhyn, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of South Africa, the Republic of Mozambique and the Republic of Botswana Lyubov Abravitova and chairman of the non-governmental organization Brenthurst Foundation from Johannesburg (South Africa) Gregory Mills.

The parties discussed a number of issues related to the ongoing full-scale Russian attack. They also discussed interreligious and Interfaith relations, Metropolitan Epiphanius' recent meetings with Archbishop Justin Welby of Canterbury, and strengthening support for Ukraine and prayers for our people.

"The enemy kills many of our people daily, not even sparing children. The aggressor is fighting for his criminal imperial ambitions because he does not see his future without owning Ukraine. This war has already clearly shown that they do not care about people, life and fate. They are only interested in our land, ancient history and spiritual continuity. And for us, this is a matter of survival and a free future for the next generations. We will continue to be indestructible and strong in spirit and will continue to fight for the truth," the head of the OCU said.
