“I urge all Muslims to make Dua, entreat Allah for help, ask protection for them so that Allah protected the oppressed inhabitants of Aleppo who suffer from unfair actions. Today the war is waged not with the soldiers, but with women, children and elderly people, who are unable to protect themselves. I urge (as well as Prophet Muhammad would, may Allah bless him) to ensure that every Muslim in every mosque raised hands and asked God to protect and rescue them,” said the head of the AMU.

He stressed that the death of unarmed civilians in Aleppo, their executions and torture are condoned by international organizations and leaders of major countries. “We know of women who are exposed to various kinds of torture, rape all over al-Sham. And it hurts is what the world is silent. The Islamic world is silent, Europe is silent, as if nothing is happening,” said Suleiman Hayrullayev. He urged journalists to talk about the developments in Syria, so that the whole world learned the names of the criminals, and politicians started action and stopped the killing of civilians.

The head of the AMU said that among the various cases of persecution of Muslims in the world the murder of civilians in Syria stands out due to its particular atrocity and scale. “Today there are problems in Ukraine, in Crimea, everywhere in the world ... but there are even more terrible crimes,” he added.

The siege of Aleppo by government forces together with Shiite groups supported by Russian military aircraft and advisers led to deaths of thousands of civilians. Observers and journalists have reported numerous cases of killings of residents and violence against them.
