Christian Lawyers Hold First Ukrainian National Professional Conference
The first National Conference of Young Christian Lawyers took place on October 16-17 at the Tavriyskiy Christian Institute. The leading idea of the event was the slogan advanced by the young lawyers: “Christian Values in Present-Day Legal Practice.” The conference was organized by a Ukrainian youth NGO Union of Young Christians of Ukraine, Russian Ministries (the Association for Spiritual Renewal), and the Tavriyskiy Christian Institute in Kherson.
About 80 delegates from different Ukrainian regions came to Kherson to attend the conference. Among the speakers who attended the conference were Ukrainian and international experts, lawyers, journalists, and human rights activists.
"One of the objectives set forth by the young lawyers is to have positive influence on processes in the country,” pointed out Andriy Somov, head of the organizing committee, deputy president of Tavriyskiy Christian Institute, during the conference's opening ceremony. “We dreamt of this opportunity for several years – to convene so we could meet one another, share our experience, develop a common approach to the present-day occupational challenges while taking into consideration both professional and spiritual aspects."
Rostyslav Semikov, deputy chairman of Christian Youth Association of Ukraine, described the general purpose of their organization, which is to help young professionals (students and young graduates) to grow both professionally and spiritually, meet with senior colleagues and adopt their experience, and together carry high professional and spiritual values into society.
Two youth medical conferences have already been held, moreover, a conference for Christian journalists will soon be conducted in Kyiv, and young teachers and entrepreneur economists will meet in the spring.
