In Ukraine, it may be forbidden to install Christmas trees in public places and to decorate cities for the New Year holidays.

The corresponding petition was registered on November 15 on the President's official website, reports RBC-Ukraine.

"Against the background of the aggressive and bloody war of the Russian Federation against our state, I consider any celebrations inappropriate and unacceptable. Every day we have mourning. Hundreds of our servicemen are killed at the front. I ask you to treat this with respect, respect and understanding and prohibit holding any festive events (including New Year's ones) until the end of the war," the petition says.

It was drafted by Vitaly Reshetnyak. He also demands to introduce a round-the-clock curfew from 17:00 on December 31 to 05:00 on January 2 throughout Ukraine in order to prevent possible sabotage in crowded places during the preparation for the holidays.

The allocated funds are intended to prepare the infrastructure for the celebration of the New Year and Christmas and are proposed to be used to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine or internally displaced persons.

Similar initiatives are introduced all over Ukraine.
