“Democratic Values of Student Youth” is a directed initiative of the Justice and Peace Committee of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church as it envisages filling socially significant aspects of life of the state with Christian content.

The head of the committee, Dr. Mykhailo Melnyk, commented on the initiative: “The establishment of democratic values and culture envisages acquiring by all the members of the society appropriate knowledge and a habit to think in a democratic way, which, in its turn, requires profound understanding of the essence of democracy, rights and possibilities ensured by it and also responsibilities imposed by it on each citizen. It is especially noticeable in Ukraine in the light of recent events. Therefore, we actually seek to use this series of events not only to draw the attention of young people to these problems but also to engage it in the process of creating in the society true values of development of a healthy society.”
