Czech President receives “frontline” canned food from Ukrainian military for Christmas
The Czech president wrote about this in the social network X, Ukrinform reports.
“Ukraine has experienced the third Christmas in the war. While many of us spent the Christmas holidays in prosperity, the soldiers of the 10th Ukrainian Brigade did so in the trenches defending their country,” the politician and former NATO general wrote.
He noted that during this time, the volunteers of “Memory of the Nation” heard dozens of stories of brave people in Donbas determined to fight for their country until the Russian aggression is stopped, and promised to convey greetings from Ukrainian soldiers.
“The label of the canned pork given to me reads: 'Thank you for the help of the Czech Republic and its people,'” Pavel wrote and added a photo of himself tasting the treat.
Participants in the Memory of a Nation project collect memories of witnesses to the events of the twentieth century in Europe. After the outbreak of a full-scale war, it holds collections to help Ukraine.
The project's website states: “Ukraine is bleeding. We do not wish to passively observe the injustice and aggression our friends are facing because they have decided to share the values of freedom and democracy with us. For almost three years now, we have been purchasing protective and medical equipment and delivering it to Ukraine, where it is needed most, as quickly as possible. Vests and helmets we provide are used by defenders on the front line, and many tons of medical equipment save lives. We have provided fire and ambulance services, drones and optical equipment.”
Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, the Czech Republic has donated 7.3 billion CZK (291.5 million euros) worth of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine.
