The Vatican expressed hope that the parties involved in the ceasefire initiative would use the opportunity “for a sincere dialogue aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace.”
According to Vatican News, this is stated in a communiqué of the Holy See Press Office on the March 14 phone call between Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky and Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
It is noted that during the conversation, Zelensky informed Cardinal Parolin about the ceasefire initiative in Ukraine proposed by the United States.
“Regarding this, the Holy See, while renewing its prayers for peace in Ukraine, hopes that the parties involved will seize the opportunity for a sincere dialogue, free from any preconditions, aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace,” the communiqué reads.
The Vatican also calls to do everything possible to release prisoners.
