Ex-Head of the SBU: Security Service Cannot and Has No Right to Act Against Ukrainian Journalists, Churches, and Priests
“I completely disagree with what the Security Service is doing now. And I have a moral right to that as I dedicated three years to that service. I am convinced that first of all the Security Service cannot and has no right to work against Ukrainian journalists, Ukrainian churches, and holy fathers,” stated the ex-head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Valentyn Nalyvaichenko during a press conference in Lutsk on October 12.
According to Nalyvaichenko, the SBU “also has no right to interfere in the private life of the citizens. But there are such violations. The violators, including the management of the body, which tolerated the violations, should bear responsibility for this, even if it is a regional body.”
The ex-head of the SBU reminded that the main principle of activity of the SBU is “the principle of responsibility to the Ukrainian nation. Therefore, we, as citizens of Ukraine, want to support public organizations and students, and get an answer.”
