Filaret convenes Council of UOC-KP
Patriarch Emeritus Filaret has announced his decision to convene the Local Council of the Kyiv Patriarchate. He said this in a comment to BBC before the beginning of the Forum "For the Ukrainian Orthodox Church! For Kyiv Patriarchate!".
"We are convening the Local Council which will not uphold the decision of the Council held on December 15, 2018. It means it is not mandatory for us. This will show that the Kyiv Patriarchate has existed, still exists and will continue to exist. We have scheduled the Council for June 20," said Filaret.
The Patriarch Emeritus has said that he plans to convene the Local Council of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate, not the of the OCU.
At today's forum, the participants also plan to approve the address to the President Volodymyr Zelensky with a request "to support the Ukrainian Orthodox Church - Kyiv Patriarchate in the face of any encroachment".
As RISU has already reported, on June 11, the forum of Ukrainian intellectuals "For the Ukrainian Orthodox Church! For Kyiv Patriarchate!" is being held in Kyiv.
The event was attended by political and public figures, representatives of the Cossacks and ATO veterans.
