First monument commemorating 1932-1933 Holodomor victims unveiled in Israel
This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
"I am honored to unveil this monument, a significant symbol for Ukraine and our entire community. I firmly believe that by overcoming prejudices about the past and restoring our historical memory, we can shape ourselves and become stronger. The Jewish community of Ukraine has always been an integral part of our society, sharing in both sorrows and challenges. Today, we honor this shared memory, which should guide us as we move forward into the future," said Taras Kachka.
As noted, the initiative was implemented on behalf of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with the support of the J. Temerty Foundation, the Jerusalem City Council, the Holodomor Research and Education Consortium, and the World Congress of Ukrainians.
The memorial was created by artists Lyudmila Temerty and David Robinson.
