Former governor of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra files lawsuit against Zelensky

According to Glavkom, the lawsuit was submitted to the Supreme Court of Ukraine on April 28.

The cleric is seeking to have two presidential decrees, which imposed personal sanctions on him, declared unlawful and cancelled through the court. These sanctions include a ban on the use and disposal of assets, a ban on acquiring land plots, and the revocation of 14 personal state awards. The sanctions were imposed for five years.

Metropolitan Pavlo will be represented in court by another priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, lawyer Mykyta Chekman.

According to the National Agency on Corruption Prevention, the sanctions against Metropolitan Pavlo were imposed due to his support of actions and policies of the Russian Federation that undermine and threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine, as well as its stability and security.

As previously reported, Metropolitan Pavlo is under round-the-clock house arrest in the village of Voronkiv in Kyiv Oblast.

The Security Service of Ukraine has charged the former governor of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra with justifying and denying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine (Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and violating the equality of citizens depending on their racial, national, and regional affiliation (Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
