Fugitive MP and UOC-MP lobbyist Dmytruk detained in London, extradition trial to follow - Media

“A Ukrainian MP hiding in London will appear in court to challenge the request for his extradition from the Ukrainian government,” the report says.

The request for extradition of the fugitive MP is based on charges of “hooliganism” over an incident in 2020 when Dmytruk tried to force his way into a political meeting.

It is noted that the fugitive MP is currently hiding in London and is due to appear in court. Dmytruk himself told The Independent that the UK government has provided him with security since he fled Ukraine in August. According to him, the extradition request is “political persecution against me and my family, against myself for my political views and my support for the UOC.” He also stated that he had “no personal issues with Volodymyr Zelensky”.

As reported previously, Ukrainian law enforcement agencies opened criminal proceedings on the basis of information received regarding the possible organization of illegal border crossing by Ukrainian MP Artem Dmytruk.

Mr. Dmytruk is also one of the lobbyists of the UOC-MP in the parliament. In July of this year, shortly before his escape, he was ordained a subdeacon of the UOC-MP.
